Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2026 Dates Announced – 50th Anniversary
Following the announcement from World Rugby of the dates and venues for the 2026 HSBC SVNS Series, which follows a new three-division global Sevens model, the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2026 will be celebrating its 50th anniversary from 17-19 April 2026 at the Kai Tak Stadium, which will be the first of three World Championship rounds.
The World Championship SVNS rounds include the top 12 women’s and 12 men’s teams and follow the conclusion of the six regular-season rounds, which will determine the participating teams for the final three events hosted in Hong Kong, Valladolid, and Bordeaux – the latter two are new additions to the circuit.
The combined results of the three World Championship rounds will determine the teams lining for the 2027 top tier in what World Rugby claims is a structure that provides a clear pathway for promotion, with regional qualifiers able to reach the world stage within a single season.
Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Long Lunch 2025
HKCR confirmed that the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Long Lunch will take place on Friday, 24 October 2025, at the Kai Tak Stadium’s South Terrace on the same day the first XVs match will be played at the stadium between HKCR Men and Japan’s XV side.
The long-standing Sevens tradition marks the official countdown to the 2026 event as we all eagerly await the dates and venue details from World Rugby, which are set to confirm details for the SVNS Series in September 2025.
The Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Long Lunch will feature international rugby legends and comedians and raise funds for the Laureus Sport For Good, the Official Charity of the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens.
You can see more ticketing details online, and entry to the matches is included in the price.
