Mie PEARLS rugby club are celebrating its 10th anniversary, hosting the PEARLS 10th Anniversary Cup 2025 at Mie Kotsu G Sports Forest on Saturday, May 17th and Sunday, May 18th 2025.

The two-day tournament has invited 12 strong teams from Japan, and for the fans, there will be food trucks, merchandise sales, and exhibition matches for junior teams.

For the upcoming Taiyo Seimei Women’s 7s Series 2025, the women’s rugby club signed new coach Conor Hirini, his partner Sarah Hirini, captain of the NZ Black Ferns Sevens team who won the HSBC World Sevens Series League title and championship 2025, NZ 7s Black Fern Olive Watherston, and the deo from the Brazilian national team; Thalia Costa and Gabriela Lima.

New Japanese players include Funa Katada, Michiyo Suda, Natsuki Ouchida, Mao Higuchi, and Risa Shimomura.

Thalia Costa, who is in the Top 5 Women’s SVNS try scorers and reached 100 Series tries in 2025, said, “I am very excited about this first experience abroad representing a club. I hope to be able to contribute to the team throughout the season and bring a bit of Brazilian rugby to the Pearls.”

Of the 12 teams, several will be competing as Taiyo Seimei Women’s Sevens Series core sides, while others were involved in the recently held Challenger Tournament.
