Rugby is really back in Asia, and it’s fair to say the pandemic took a while to recover from in the region, but 2024 was incredibly busy and 2025 is looking to be another bumper year for social rugby tournaments in Asia. In this Asian 2025 Social Rugby Tournaments guide (which will be constantly updated), we preview the social tournaments which have been announced for tens and sevens rugby.

Hong Kong New Year’s Day Tournament 2025
The annual New Year’s Day Tournament will be taking place at Hong Kong Football Club which features “talented youth players and potential future Hong Kong China representatives”.

The inaugural WA 7’s Series (Western Australia) will be taking place from 18-20 January 2025 at Wanneroo Districts Rugby Union Club and is open to Juniors and Seniors playing across various age group divisions.

Lanna Rugby Club is hosting the Lanna 7s Cubs Cup with 5 youth categories: U12 (mixed), U14 (Boys and Girls) and U16 (Boys and Girls).
The organisers said, “The Lanna Cubs Cup is not just a tournament—it’s a chance to create lasting positive impact, promote youth sports, and help raise awareness about the incredible work Lanna Rugby Club does for underprivileged youth.”

HSBC Mini & Youth Rugby Festival Dubai 2025
The HSBC Mini & Youth Rugby Festival takes place at The Sevens Stadium from January 25-26, which is jointly hosted by Dubai Exiles RFC and the Dubai Hurricanes.
The organisers added, “It’s sure to be another fantastic weekend of #rugby for the young rugby players of the UAE, the Gulf region, and further afield.”
In 2024, 3,500 girls and boys played in 636 rugby matches, and 2025 looks to be even bigger!

Surin Super 10s 2025
The Surin Super 10s is a Thai social rugby tournament, but there is prize money up for grabs for the winners.

Bangkok International Rugby Tens 2025
Still the largest Thailand social rugby tens tournament (and one of the biggest in Asia), the Bangkok International Rugby Tens will run from 15-16 February 2025.
The annual tournament includes a number of youth age groups as well as women’s, men’s and vets (Over 45s) categories, and touch rugby has been featured in recent additions.

KL Rugby Tigers Tens 2025
The KL Tigers International Rugby 10s 2025 takes place from 22-23 February at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort.
This massive Malaysian social youth rugby tournament in Kuala Lumpur is hosted by the KL Tigers RFC and nearly 170 teams from four countries will be in action.

Wuhan 10’s 2025
The Wuhan Baiji rugby club will be organising the Wuhan 10’s tournament 2025 on March 15 and will be open to women’s and men’s teams – little other information is available at the time of publishing.

Manila 10s International Rugby Festival 2025
The biggest Philippine social rugby tens tournament returned in 2023, and the 34th edition is believed to be held on the weekend of 22-23 March 2025.
The Manila 10s organisers will announce more in due course, but there are usually women’s, men’s, and vets tens rugby divisions at the popular tens rugby tournament.

Hanoi 10s 2025
The Hanoi 10s is usually run in conjunction with the Hanoi Dragons, but it seems it’s a collaborative effort with the new Đại Việt Rugby in 2025, and the date for the Women’s and Men’s comp is confirmed for 22-23 March.

Furious 5s 2025
The BAC Bears Rugby Furious 5s returns in 2025 but this time won’t be taking place as part of the Singapore SVNS week.
The organisers said, “Get ready for the most thrilling beach rugby tournament in Singapore!” The 5-a-side beach rugby tournament takes place on 23 March 2025 and has several divisions with registrations open.

All Girls Rugby Sevens 2025
The AGIR 7s returned in 2024 at Kings Park in the lead-up to the Hong Kong Sevens as the All Girls International Rugby 7’s tournament aims to showcase teams from Hong Kong and overseas. In 2024, there were 7 different age grades in action.
Updates were made on their Instagram and not on their Facebook page – but in 202,5 the tournament will be played from 21-22 March.

Kowloon RugbyFest 2025
A popular drawcard in a very busy Hong Kong Sevens rugby week, the Kowloon RugbyFest 2025 is scheduled to take place on 27th March 2025 once again at Kings Park.
The one-day social tens tournament features women’s and men’s rugby, as well as Men’s Vets (Over 40):
- Rugbyfest is open to 16 Men’s teams and 8 women’s teams playing in a round-robin format, as well as a Vets comp.
- Each team has a maximum squad of 16 players.
- The Men’s tournament consists of four pools, each comprising 4 teams, with the semi-final stage leading to the final stage a cup, bowl, plate, and shield.
- The Women’s tournament consists of 2 pools of four teams progressing to a cup, bowl, plate and shield competition, with the vets team being the same format.
- The Vets tournament is open to 8 teams with 4 teams in two pools, progressing to a knock-out competition with the semi-finals leading to a cup, plate, bowl and shield finals.
Rugby sides from around the world participate – often with a few rugby stars on the sidelines watching on. The tournament also hosts a charity dinner and raises funds for an appointed partner every tournament.

2025 Tradition HKFC 10s
The 2025 Tradition HKFC 10s will be the 37th edition of the Hong Kong Football Club’s flagship rugby event and will be played on Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th March.
There will once again be both women’s (8) and men’s (12) rugby teams playing at the Hong Kong Football Club.

Golden Oldies Rugby Festival 2025 (Singapore)
The popular Golden Oldies Rugby Festival heads to Singapore in 2025 and the tournament is due to take place from 6-13 April 2025. This will be the first time it will be staged in Southeast Asia.
Golden Oldies was first held in 1979 and the rugby tournament “has become a worldwide phenomenon on the rugby social calendar” said the organisers.

Borneo Sevens Junior Carnival 2025
The Borneo Sevens Junior Carnival is being run in the build-up to the 20th Borneo Sevens tournament with registrations open via the Eagles RFC QR code.
There are contact U18 Girls and Boys & U15 Boys, and touch rugby for U12 Boys as well as U8 and U15 Girls.

Borneo 7s 2025
The Borneo 7s 2025 is the event’s 20th edition, and registrations opened up in December 2024 for the “Greenest 7s in the World”.
Once again the divisions are:

- Classic 10’s Veterans (2 pax limited for 38 years old, others must be 40 years old or above)
The annual tournament has attracted high-calibre sevens national and specialist touring teams, and in 2024 included sides from; Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Hong Kong, France, and Kazakhstan.

Chengdu May The 4th Be With Your Social 10s 2025
Chengdu Rugby Club are organising the Star Wars-themed social rugby tournament on 3rd May 2025.

Pattaya 10s 2025 (Chris Kays Rugby Memorial Tournament)
The Pattaya Tens is due to be held from 3-4 May 2025 and tends to include Men’s social rugby only. There are always several Thai-based teams playing with a few international touring teams for this two-day event.
The Pattaya Panthers Rugby Football Club are the organiser, and more will be announced.

Saigon Women’s 10s Rugby Tournament 2025
Saigon Rugby Club have confirmed the first women’s-only social 10s rugby tournament in Vietnam and one of the few to have been run in Southeast Asia.
The one-day tournament will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, and there will be contact and touch divisions which are open to Elite, Club, Social, and Barbarian teams (or teams looking to combine with others).

Fat Boy 10s 2025 Hong Kong
The Fat Boy 10s Hong Kong 2025 takes place on May 10th at King’s Park, Kowloon, and as always, is organised by Pot Bellied Pigs RFC and HKCR, with a Men’s and Women’s 10s rugby set to be played.
The organisers said, “Whether you want to maintain your fitness in the off-season, keep your skills sharp or just play for fun, we want you! All skill levels welcome — the more the merrier. Expect a full day of rugby, family fun, cold beers, chilled wine, great food, face painting for kids and a DJ.”
The tournament will raise funds to support grassroots rugby in Hong Kong, the Philippines and Laos, and fund medical missions in the Philippines.

Jakarta 10s 2025
The Jakarta Komodo Rugby Club organises the ten-a-side social tournament in Indonesia, and it is scheduled to take place on May 17th and should feature Men’s and Vets (over 40) 10s, and Women’s 7s rugby.

region! Held at the world-class and purpose-built Rugby Grounds at Gelora Bang Karno Senayan Jakarta (home of the Asian Games), The Jakarta Rugby 10’s Tournament is filling up quickly with Open Men’s 10’s, Vets 10’s (40+) & Women’s 7’s coming together for an amazing weekend of Rugby, Sportsmanship and Festivities.

Indochine Cup 2025
The annual Social Tens tournament, which involves teams from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, will be hosted in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 on May 17 and should include sides from the Saigon Geckos, Hanoi Dragons, Phnom Penh Social Rugby Club, and Da Nang Guerrilla Rugby Club.

The Thailand 7s rugby tournament is open to Men’s (16 teams) & Women’s (8 teams) Open as well as Men’s Vets (aged 40+) 10s (8 teams) from 24 & 25 May 2025, with a registration fee of US $250
The organsiers said via their Facebook page “Whether you’re battling for glory on the field or cheering from the sidelines, this is where legends are made. Are you ready to leave it all on the pitch?”

Taiwan 10s 2025
Although no details have been confirmed, the Taiwan 10s is expected to take place in late May or early June 2025.

Phuket Rugby 11s 2025
The Dimbulla Estate Phuket International Rugby 11s is open to Women’s & Men’s Open teams, and Vets (O35s and O45s) social 11s rugby in 2025 is taking place from 6-8 June, with registration open.
This is one of several 11s rugby tournaments planned by the same organisers in 2024.

Shanghai Cup 10s 2025
The Shanghai 10s 2025 is taking place on June 7th and is open to men’s & women’s teams and organised by the Shanghai Rugby Football Association.

The Pulapol 10s 2025 social rugby tournament is due to take place in Kuala Lumpur in June and will feature 16 teams, with local and invitational teams involved.

Dili 10’s Rugby Tournament 2025
A new tournament and the first international rugby tournament in South East Asia’s newest country, Timor-Leste, the Dili 10’s will be held in the National Stadium in Dili on Saturday, August 23 2025.
BSF Asia, together with Timor Rugby Federation, will host the inaugural one-day social tens tournament featuring Women’s 7’s and Men’s 10’s rugby, as well as Men’s Vets (Over 40). The tournament is open to 8 teams with 4 teams in two pools, progressing to a knock-out competition with the semi-finals leading to a cup, plate, bowl and shield finals.
The organisers said that “due to limited international flights (3 flights a day), 4 day packages (Thursday 21 August to Sunday 24 August) are available with flights (from either Denpasar, Bali or Darwin, Australia ) and include hotel accommodation, welcome dinner, presentation dinner, farewell beach BBQ, airport pickup and drop off and local transport, meals and rehydration (non-alcoholic).

Centaurs & Skyllas Girls and Women’s Rugby Tournament 2025
The Centaurs & Skyllas Girls and Women’s Rugby Tournament 2025 will feature 7s and 10s rugby on 24 August 2025 in Singapore. This is the first edition of the tournament.
The organisers said, “We’re beyond excited to launch this brand-new event featuring age groups from U10s all the way to U18s & Opens! This invitation-only tournament welcomes clubs to submit entries by the deadlines provided.”

- Additional team requests will be waitlisted and confirmed closer to the event date.

Fat Boy 10s 2025 (Postponed)
The organisers announced in late July that they had decided to postpone the Fat Boy 10s Tournament in the Philippines to a later date to be announced soon.
“As you are probably aware, the Fat Boy 10s is a charity tournament that we have run since 2004. We are very careful to ensure that the event can be run at a profit, so that we can continue supporting our chosen charities and partners. As of this moment, we must admit that our ability to make a profit on the Sept 6 date as planned was at risk.
There are some new obstacles and challenges to overcome this year, and luck has not always been on our side. Therefore, we will step back, re-plan, find ways to reduce risk, and announce the event at a later date which we are confident will be successful.”

China Rugby 10s 2025
The China Rugby 10s 2025 is hosted by the CRFA in Hangzhou from 13-14 September.
One of the sides competing is the Eastern Bulls, comprising players from teams across Eastern China, including Yiwu Mustangs, Ningbo Rhinos and Hangzhou Harlequins Rugby Football Club.

Kuala Lumpur Highland Games 2025
The 10th Anniversary edition of the Kuala Lumpur Highland Games sees the 2025 edition once again take place, with rugby set to be included.
Thanks to the organisers for reaching out to us and providing more information. The event features the annual Junior Rugby 10s tournament organised by KL Tigers RFC, which they say “is open to all Malaysian clubs and attracts over 80 teams drawn from all over the country.”
The KLHG Rugby tournament categories are:
- Boys: U6, U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U16, U18.
- Girls Touch Rugby: U12, U15, U18.
The KLHG celebrates all things Scottish in Malaysia and “showcases traditional Heavy throwing & lifting competitions, marching Bagpipe & Drum bands, crowd participation sporting contests, a huge Kids’ Village filled with thrilling rides and activities, free face painting and pony rides, lots of F&B outlets, two Bars, a Shopping Village and a motorbike cavalcade as well as music.

Chiang Mai International Rugby 7s 2025
The Chiang Mai International Rugby 7s takes place in September 2025 and is open to expressions of interest.
Lann Rugby Club are the organiser and said, “After last year’s resounding success, we’re now taking expressions of interest for the Chiangmai International Rugby 7s. This year we will have men, women and Youth 7s with Old Boys 10s,
All proceeds will go towards growing rugby in Northern Thailand, including our youth program, which consists of disadvantaged children from two local NGOs (Kids Ark & Baan Dek Foundation).”

The 2024 tournament was won by the Royal Thai Police Rugby Club (men) and Guam Rugby Football Union (women).

Centaurs International Mini & Youth Rugby Tournament 2025
The Centaurs International Mini & Youth Rugby Tournament 2025 takes place from 20-21 September, and registrations for the 14th edition are now open via the club (closing date 18 August).
Each club may register up to two teams per age group, but requests for additional teams will be waitlisted and considered closer to the tournament date.
There is U6-U12 Mixed rugby as well as U13-U17 Boys. For U10 age groups and above, teams may be streamed into divisions.

Hua Hin Rugby 10s
This is the first Annual Hua Hin Rugby 10s Tournament and will be a one-day event on Saturday, 20th September.
The organisers said, “Whether you’re a seasoned rugby enthusiast, a team ready to compete, or a supporter looking to cheer from the sidelines, this event promises excitement for all. Teams from across the region will battle it out for the championship title and bragging rights in what will become a celebrated annual tradition.”
Food stalls, music, and family-friendly activities will keep everyone entertained throughout the day.

FLYHI Rugby Academy – International 7s Junior Rugby Tournament
Another new tournament (to us at least) is this youth-focused 7s rugby tournament in Colombo with U10 (tag), U12 & U15 (contact) age grade categories.
On the tournament day, refreshments, drinking water, lunch, an ice bath, and medical staff with ambulance service will be provided, and parents can attend the tournament free of charge.
Each team will play at least 4 round robin games, plus semifinals and finals if qualified.

Kobau 11s 2025
Another new entry is the Kobau 11s rugby tournament set for 25 October 2025 in Malaysia with Open Men’s (24) & Vets (8) divisions.
The organisers said, “The first-ever Kobau 11s format — and maybe the first of its kind in Malaysia. This is about pushing limits, making noise, and rewriting how community rugby is played.”

Women’s Sport Festival 2025 – Cebu
Taking place on October 26, 2025, at the Cebu City Sports Centre, 7 all-girls teams from Cebu, Davao, and Negros will compete at the Women’s Sport Festival.
After completing their 10 sessions of T1 Rugby, seven all-girls teams from Cebu, Davao, and Negros will come together to compete at the Women’s Sport Festival.
This was originally scheduled for 11 October but was moved due to the recent earthquake that hit Cebu.

Phnom Penh 10s 2025
The Phnom Penh 10s 2025 tournament will be taking place on 1st November 2025 and will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Phnom Penh Social Rugby Club (Rahus).
The 2025 edition will be a one-day event again and is open to: Men’s teams, Women’s teams, and Vets.
The organisers said, “This time around, we will be working on a pay-for-your-place booking system and no place will be confirmed until payment is received. We already have a lot of interest, and several teams confirmed, so please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.”

COBRA 10s 2025
The historic tournament, where 10s rugby started, sees the 52nd edition of the Cobra 10s take place from 1-2 November.

Blacks International Nite Rugby 10s Tournament
Blacks Rugby Football Club is hosting the Blacks International Nite Rugby 10s Tournament happening on 1 November 2025 at MOE Evans Sports Stadium, Singapore, with Men’s Open (12 teams) and Women’s Open (8 teams) categories.
The organisers said the tournament will have prize money and that the tournament has an “illustrious history of having regional top teams from Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore competing for the K.T. Ooi Trophy (Men since the 1980s and the Blacks Women’s Challenge Trophy”.

Cebu 11s 2025
The Cebu 11s 2025 will be held on 8 November. The organisers said, “It’s going to be bigger, bolder, and badder than ever. The Philippines’ first and only 11s rugby tournament. Quick plays, sharp hits, and post-match legends. Open to men’s and women’s teams, both local and international.”
