Hong Kong China Men’s XV Head To South America for July World Rugby Nations Cup 2026 Fixtures
World Rugby unveiled the match schedule for the first three rounds of the inaugural World Rugby Nations Cup 2026, taking place throughout July, and the Asian representation, Hong Kong China, will be playing three matches in South America.
The format of the new competition means each team will face all six opponents from the opposite pool – this means that Hong Kong China will have matches against Pool A teams Canada, USA, Chile, Tonga, Samoa, and Uruguay.
World Rugby said, “The exciting schedule balances geographic spread, player welfare, logistics cost and developmental opportunity, providing fans with clarity, teams with certainty, and unions with commercial opportunities.
These nations represent rugby’s most exciting growth markets, many of whom have made significant strides in recent years through dedicated pathways, increased investment, and record levels of supporter engagement.”
As it stands, HKCR won’t have any home matches in the July window of the Nations Cup competition. They will also be competing in the Asia Rugby Men’s XV Championship 2026, with matches scheduled from the end of May through to mid June.
World Rugby Chair Brett Robinson said: “The inaugural World Rugby Nations Cup is a major milestone for the global game. The competition is creating unprecedented opportunities for these promising teams to test themselves, build experience, inspire supporters at home and away, and grow their commercial footprint.
Staging the first half of the tournament across the Americas reflects the enormous potential of the region, from the deep passion of South American fans to the outstanding venues and growing interest in the North. This is a tournament built on growth, connection, and the belief that every union should have a clear pathway to compete and thrive at the highest level.”

Points System
In 2026, each pool will be ranked separately, with two pool champions crowned after the November matches have been completed (based on the pool competition points.
World Rugby explained, “Match points will combine into a single standings table, and at the end of November the top‑ranked union in each pool will be crowned the inaugural Nations Cup champions.”
All 12 nations will compete for points:
- 4 or a win
- 2 for a draw
- 0 for a loss
- Bonus points for scoring four or more tries and losing by seven points or fewer
