2026 Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens – Fan’s Guide On What You Need To Know
The 2026 Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens will take place from 17-19 April at Kai Tak Sports Park and will be celebrating its 50th anniversary, with a busier Hong Kong Sevens week than ever before. We look at the rugby events, lunches, dinners, tournaments and other essential information for all the fans attending that week.

2026 Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Pools
The final 24 teams set to compete will only be known after the HSBC SVNS Division 2 wraps up in March, and which four additional women’s and men’s teams will join the existing 16 sides already confirmed to play the three World Championship events on the HSBC SVNS Series this season.

The Hong Kong China Rugby men’s and women’s sevens squads will defend their Melrose Claymores titles at the 2026 Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens.

Confirmed Entertainment and Music – Hong Kong 7s Week 2026

Primrose & Gwyn Dorado – Friday 17 April 2026
The first-ever K-pop band will appear at the HK 7s with a four-member girl group, Primrose, set to perform on the opening night, as well as Korea-based Filipino singer-songwriter Gwyn Dorado at the Kai Tak Stadium on Friday evening, 17 April.

VengaBoys – Saturday 18 April 2026
The Vengaboys were the first music act to be confirmed to be performing at the 50th Anniversary Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2026. Best known for party anthems like ‘We like to Party’, “We’re going to Ibiza” and “Boom Boom Boom Boom!” and will perform on Saturday afternoon at the Sevens in Hong Kong.

DJ Hanna – Saturday 18 April 2026
Korean DJ Hanna will entertain fans on Saturday with high-energy sets blending K-pop, K-hip-hop, and house music.

Hindley Street Country Club – Sunday 19 April 2026
Australian cover band Hindley Street Country Club will perform on Sunday with a ‘Songs of the Sevens’.
The Village Fanzone
Once again, open to all HK7s ticketholders, the area has kid-friendly activities, face painting, fancy dress, games, bouncy castles, live music, autographs, big screens, and more. More than 20 DJs, bands and dance troupes will be performing across the weekend.
Cathay / HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2026 Ambassadors
The ambassadors for the 2026 rugby week are still to be confirmed by HKCR.
HSBC will also have its own red polo rugby ambassadors, as they do at every HSBC SVNS event, and this year the crew includes: Brian O’Driscoll, Bryan Habana, Michael Hooper, Dan Carter and Ruby Tui!
The Global Rugby Players Foundation will also be sending out George Gregan, Rachael Burford and Conrad Smith alongside their new CEO, Karina Murtagh.
Hong Kong Sevens Week 2026 Events, Dinners, Lunches
We expect dozens of breakfasts, brunches, lunches and dinners that fill up the Hong Kong Sevens Week to be confirmed, and we will update here accordingly.
German Men’s 7s – Meet and Greet – HK7s
The German national rugby team, the Wolfpack, will be having a Meet & Greet at Biergarten on Sunday, April 12.
There will be a chance to win a signed official jersey in the lucky draw.

Ashbury Tropics Meet and Greet – Q&A
The Ashbury Tropics team is competing in the HKFC 10s and will be having a Meet and Greet at Bobbys Rabble on Monday, 13 April from 7-10 PM (HK$600 pp). All proceeds for this event will go to Tropics.
The team’s Head Coach is former USA 7s Head Coach, Mike Friday, while several guests are confirmed to attend (see below).

LIFT Lunch 2026 – Celebrating Women in Sport
The inaugural LIFT Lunch will be hosted at Hong Kong Football Club and present an all-women panel featuring Olympic athletes, coaches, and senior leaders from the sporting world.
Speakers include Portia Woodman-Wickliffe (Women’s Rugby GOAT), Camille Cheng (Three-time Hong Kong Olympic Swimmer), Sarah Hooper (Chief Operating Officer, Hong Kong China Rugby), Bella Milo (Valley RFC WCCO and newly appointed Samoan Women’s XV Head Coach)
Themes include:
- Why sport matters for women – and the lasting value it creates in education, leadership, and lifelong skills
- Life after competition – how female athletes can successfully transition into second careers, and how the business community can better support them
- Building pathways – how we can encourage and support women to pursue careers in sport, whether as athletes, coaches, leaders, or beyond

An Unexpected Adoption – Mui Thomas
A special event will be hosted by title sponsor, Tanner De Witt, for the launch of “An Unexpected Adoption” by co-author Mui Thomas.
The Hong Kong Rugby Referees Society said, “We’re delighted that co-author Mui Thomas is also part of the refereeing community, making this a proud moment for HKRRS. Wishing the authors every success with the launch and thanking Tanner De Witt for their valued support.”

AustCham Rugby Sevens Cocktails 2026
AustCham Hong Kong will be holding its annual HK 7s cocktails again, and said, “Mix and mingle with Australian rugby players and coaches against a stunning 270-degree backdrop of Victoria Harbour. Enjoy two hours of free-flow drinks and light bites as you soak in the atmosphere.”
There will be rugby-themed games and prizes, raffle draws, and exclusive meet-and-greet moments with the Aussie rugby stars.

Spain 7s Meet and Greet – Spanish Chamber of Commerce HK7s 2026
The Spanish Chamber of Commerce is organising a cocktail reception with the Spanish National Rugby Sevens Teams in Hong Kong.
The chamber said, “This informal networking reception will bring together members of the Spanish community, business leaders, and rugby fans for a unique opportunity to connect with the players and celebrate the spirit of the game during Rugby Sevens week.”
Guests will enjoy food and drinks, and a Lucky Draw. Members $280HKD, Non-Members $380HKD.

SAAHK Blitzboks HK7s Rugby Sevens Dinner 2026
The organisers, South African Association of Hong Kong, said, “Don’t miss our annual Sevens Dinner – a fantastic evening for a great cause – with the Blitzboks and the legendary Flip van der Merwe, in support of Ons Plek and Umoya Khulula Wildlife Centre.:
In the past, the event has taken place at HKFC, so note the change of venue.

HK7s International Sports Medicine Conference 2026
The HK7s International Sports Medicine Conference 2026 will take place on 14-15 April 2026 at Kai Tak Sports Park, Hong Kong and is open to all medical providers and students interested in sports medicine and science.
HKCR said, “The conference brings together global and local experts across sports medicine and sports science disciplines who will be sharing evidence-based insights, innovations, and best practices that shape sports medicine and science.
Our dynamic program is built around three key themes:
- Injury Management: Return-to-Play and Performance
- Brain Health for the Athlete
- Female Athlete Health and Performance

Hong Kong Sport & Sustainability Summit 2026
The Hong Kong Sport & Sustainability Summit 2026 will take place over two days from 14-15 April. The full list of speakers and talks can be seen here in our article.

Evening with Canada’s Women’s Sevens Team
Canada’s Women’s Sevens Team is hosting an event in Hong Kong at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club for an exclusive reception to celebrate Canadian rugby. All funds raised will support Rugby Canada’s One Squad Fundraising initiative.
The team jersey presentation will take place, as well as a Rugby Canada Fireside chat. The Canadian Women were one of the first squads announced for the HK7s.
Cost HKD 1800 per person, including 2 hours of free-flow drinks.

Hong Kong 5’s Wheelchair Rugby 2026 – Prize Giving Presentation
Meet the Wheelchair rugby Paralympic athletes at the Prize Giving Presentation for the first HK 5s International Wheelchair Rugby tournament.

In Conversation with Jason Donovan
St. James’s Place is hosting an evening event with an Australian actor and singer: In Conversation with Jason Donovan. “This exclusive event promises an engaging night of stories, insight, and entertainment with the international star. Danish Women’s 7’s National Team Meet and Greet
The Danish Women’s 7’s National Team will be guests of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, which will be hosting a Meet and Greet as they also fundraise for the side.
There are several options to support the team.

BritCham & KPMG Rugby HK7s Dinner 2026
The BritCham & KPMG Rugby Dinner takes place on Thursday, 16 April 2026, at the HK Football Club. The organisers said, “This iconic event, now in its 22nd year, is the ultimate rugby party. Join us for an evening of fun, international legends of the game, free-flow beer, wine and soft drinks and a delicious curry buffet. All in a great cause as we will be raising funds for HandsOn Hong Kong.”
Former English International and British and Irish Lion Anthony Watson is the first confirmed guest, with other speakers to be announced.

The Hong Kong Doddie Dinner 2026
The popular Hong Kong Doddie Dinner 2026 will take place at the Grand Hyatt, and the organisers said, “The Hong Kong Doddie Dinners have become a regular fixture in the week leading up to the Hong Kong 7s, and the Hong Kong branch of My Name’5 Doddie Foundation will continue to support our commitment to funding research into finding effective treatments to MND. You can find out more about My Name’5 Doddie Foundation in Hong Kong here.”
Last year’s dinner saw over 600 people in attendance, including Doddie’s wife, Kathy, and raised an incredible 4.6 million HKD (approximately £500,000).

Rugby Matters 2026
Rugby Matters returns for its third edition at the Hong Kong 7s Week and will once again be held at the Kai Tak, taking place on the first day of the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens.

Carbine Club Lunch – Rugby 7s 2026
A regular feature of the Hong Kong 7s week, the Carbine Club Lunch fundraises for Rugby For Good, which uses funds raised at the lunch for the development and advancement of sport in Hong Kong.

“Racing with Rugby” 2026
The Jockey Club will offer fans “Racing with Rugby” experiences at both Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourses during Rugby Week in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong’s Rugby Week will kick off with the official announcement of the Hong Kong China Men’s and Women’s 7s teams at Sha Tin Race Course Parade Ring on Sunday, 12 April.
The Happy Valley Track will host a rugby-themed race meeting on Wednesday, 15 April.
The organisers said, “On Apr 15, expect legend rugby player meet-and-greets, stadium bangers to pump up the night from BABBA and Jason Donovan, South Stand-style dress-up in the “Shout Stand” , with best-dressed fans winning HK Sevens tickets!”

Hong Kong Scottish Breakfast – HK7s 2026
Bruce Aitchison from Happiness is Egg Shaped is the emcee for the Hong Kong Scottish Breakfast, which features guests such as former Welsh and British & Irish Lion Dr Jamie Roberts.

Meet the Hong Kong China Men’s XVs Team
The HKCR Men’s XV qualified for the Rugby World Cup 2027 for the first time ever, and members of the squad will be at the weekend to meet and interact with fans.
- On Saturday, 18 April, the team will be out in force to meet and greet with local fans, starting with an open training session in the Sevens Fan Village, followed by a meet and greet autograph session.
- Members of the HKCR Men’s XVs programme will also be joining the world-famous Hong Kong Sevens March Past (Saturday 18 April at 14:32).

Hong Kong International Touch Championship 2026
The tournament has moved to an earlier date in 2026 and is outside of the week of the Hong Kong Sevens – but the Hong Kong International Touch Championship 2026 (HKITC) will be held from 21-22 March 2026 at Happy Valley Club.

Hong Kong 5’s Wheelchair Rugby 2026
BSF, together with the Hong Kong China Rugby, will host the Hong Kong 5’s Wheelchair Rugby during the HK7s week in 2026.

2026 HKFC Youth 10s
The HKFC Youth 10s 2026 is a rebrand of the previously known Youth International Cup, and takes place from 11-12 April in the lead-up to the Hong Kong Sevens 2026, with age-grades from U5-U18 playing competitive games in Hong Kong.

HKFC 10s 2026
The HKFC 10s 2026 will be celebrating its 40th anniversary, and the tournament opening ceremony will be at 4 PM on Tuesday, 14 April, with the first of 8 womens matches kicking off at 4:45 pm. The tournament will run until Thursday, April 16th, 2026.
The extended three-day tournament has also partnered with the Rugby Racing Week. See the official website here for ticketing and other information.

Kowloon RugbyFest 2026 (Cancelled)
The annual ten-a-side social tournament, Kowloon RugbyFest, is open to 16 Men’s teams and 8 women’s teams, as well as Men’s Veterans (Over 40s) playing in a round-robin format as they celebrate its 21st edition in 2026.
It was announced on 16th March that the tournament for 2026 has been cancelled.

Cathay Youth Invitational 7s 2026
The youth 7s tournament will take place over two days and features top schools and clubs (U18 Boys and Girls) from across the globe.

Fast 4s Netball 2026
A 4v4 mixed-format netball tournament open to 16 teams will be played on 16 April from 15:00 – 20:00 at the East Village of the Kai Tak Sports Park.
The format will see matches played with 7-minute halves, and teams competing for Cup, Plate, Bowl, and Shield divisions.
Local clubs and overseas teams can register here with squads of seven players (18+ years of age only).

APPT Grand Slam Platinum Hong Kong 2026
The Asia Pacific Padel Tour (APPT), Asia’s padel circuit, has partnered with Hong Kong China Rugby for the APPT tour event to be played alongside the 50th Anniversary of the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens at the Kai Tak Stadium from 17-19 April 2026.
Knockout rounds will also be held at a local Hong Kong padel club, with the finals on Sunday at the APPT Arena in the village at Kai Tak Sports Park.
A Celebrity ProAm event for sponsors, celebrities, media and KOLs will take place on Thursday, 16 April 2026.

Bali Memorial Game – HK7s 2026
The Pot Bellied Pigs usually organise a Bali Memorial game during the Hong Kong Sevens week and confirmed the “Bali Memorial Game will take place at HK Football Club with a midday kick off with curry and beers after.”

Primal Race Hong Kong
Primal Race will take place for the first time in Hong Kong over the Sevens weekend. The hybrid racing combines running, strength and functional fitness across eight epic stations.
