HSBC SVNS Series and World Championship 2027 Dates Confirmed
World Rugby confirmed the HSBC SVNS schedule and dates for the Series and World Championship for 2027, as the same host cities from the 2026 Series again host as teams prepare for qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
New Zealand’s women and South Africa’s men won the HSBC SVNS Series titles in New York, and Australia’s women and South Africa’s men were crowned HSBC SVNS World Champions after the three rounds of the World Championship.
World Rugby Sevens World Series General Manager, Sam Pinder, said: “The success of the past season, including record-breaking attendance in Hong Kong and continued growth across our digital and social platforms, demonstrates the increasing visibility and strength of rugby sevens around the world.
With the race to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games beginning, the 2027 season will carry added significance as the world’s best teams compete for the opportunity to reach the pinnacle tournament.
HSBC SVNS Series and World Championship 2025-2026 Season: By The Numbers
World Rugby said the 2026 season attracted more than 530,000 fans across the Series, a 21 per cent increase from 2025 (there were also two more legs than the previous year). Hong Kong set a new single-day attendance record of 41,457 fans and had a total crowd of 113,395 at Kai Tak Sports Park as the most famous 7s event celebrated 50 years.
In terms of social and media reach (we note again that there were more events in total this past season)
- HSBC SVNS also surpassed one billion social media impressions for the second consecutive season
- Digital engagement increased by 60 per cent year-on-year
- Player followings grew by more than 13 per cent
Around 50 players who previously competed on the Series now represent their nations across the Nations Championship and World Rugby Nations Cup.
HSBC SVNS Series and World Championship 2026-2027 Dates & Schedule
The 2027 Series will once again visit Dubai, Cape Town, Singapore, Perth, Vancouver and New York before culminating in the HSBC SVNS World Championship’s three legs in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux.

HSBC SVNS Championship 2027
2026 was a big year for the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens as it celebrated its 50th edition, broke records, and saw the Blitzboks win their first-ever title in Hong Kong alongside the NZ Women.
