The 55,000-capacity National Stadium will again host a Family SVNS tournament, and the Singapore Sports Hub (now rebranded as The Kallang) added that “fans of all ages can look forward to a weekend of world-class rugby action, with every try, tackle and turnover unfolding live at the Singapore National Stadium.”
Additional events in the week leading up to the two-day SVNS event are still to be confirmed, such as the SEA 7s, which includes national teams from the region and is expected to be played from 30-31 January 2026, with the finals usually held at the National Stadium.
The Singapore titles were won by Fiji men and New Zealand women in the 2025 leg.
Women’s Pools – Singapore SVNS 2026
Australia and New Zealand are jointly tied first on the log with 38 points each, and Japan is third on 28 points.
In the women’s competition, Cape Town champions Australia are in Pool A with the USA, high-flying Japan and Fiji.
New Zealand heads Pool B with France, Canada and Great Britain, as Team GB still looks for its first win this season with a new-look side.
- RWC 2025 star Braxton Sorensen-Mcgee is included in the Black Ferns 7s side, captained by Risealeaana Pouri-Lane, and features Jorja Miller.
- An important addition to the USA Women is that of Olympian Sammy Sullivan, who returns from leave with the military.
- For Australia, Sidney Taylor will make her return for the first time since the Paris Olympics after an ACL injury, and Maya Stewart will make her debut (she is the Wallaroos all time leading try scorer).
Australia Head Coach Tim Walsh said, “We will approach Singapore in moments with a staunch focus on our immediate opposition before switching attention to Perth the following week.”
Australia’s skipper, Isabella Nasser, added, “We’ve prepared really well. Off the back of Cape Town when we got the win, we had a really good Christmas preparation and then into a couple of weeks post-Christmas. And we’re really excited to kick off in Singapore – we love Singapore, it’s one of our favourite tournaments, so we’re really pumped. We’re getting used to the heat and the humidity!”
Japan Sakura 7s player Maisuke Yoshino said after Cape Town, “There were some tough moments as a team, but each player played one-fourth of their role, and we were able to win the final match, which is a great asset. Although we were unable to achieve our goal of second place or higher, we still have room to grow both as individuals and as a team.”
Risi Pouri-Lane, New Zealand Women’s Captain, added: “Singapore is a very unique stop for us! There is a feeling of excitement as we return to the iconic National Stadium at The Kallang. There is also a sense of familiarity – seeing the landmarks like Marina Bay or Gardens by the Bay – places we’ve seen on TV or the internet and now getting to experience it ourselves whilst competing in the World Series is very special.”
The Sakura 7s are currently in third place, and they announced their squad for Singapore which can be seen here.
Men’s Pools – Singapore SVNS 2026
South Africa, New Zealand, and Fiji are now jointly tied first on the log with 32 points after two tournaments, followed by France in fourth on 28, Australia on 26 and Argentina on 24.
Tone Ng Shu captains the NZ side that includes the Rush brothers, Brady and Rob. Michael Manson is in line to debut for the side in Singapore.
Cape Town men’s champions South Africa face Fiji, Great Britain and Spain in Pool A in Singapore.
Jeremaia Matana, Fiji Men’s Captain, said: “We’ve had a strong start to the season and hope to continue this momentum as we defend our men’s champions title in sunny Singapore! Playing in the National Stadium at The Kallang is always special as fans of all ages come out to cheer on the team – it’s easy to see why this tournament is called the ‘Family SVNS’. The energy from fans across the whole weekend is truly incredible.”
The Blitzboks will be without Ronald Brown, Selvyn Davids, Dewald Human and Quewin Nortje, who are all injured. The Blitzboks will be bringing two players set to debut, Luan Giliomee and Ronaldo Young, and there is a return of Siviwe Soyizwapi, who will also captain the side. Impi Visser is rested for this trip.
Coach Philip Snyman said that Gino Cupido had a setback earlier this week and was not selected as a result. “Renaldo has been training very well since he joined us and did really well for the SA ‘A’-side in Dubai last year – I am excited to see what he can do. Sebastiaan is also back and looked really sharp in training. All three are part of the depth building system we are busy with as 2028 approaches.”
Pool B consists of Argentina, France, New Zealand and Australia in a tough-looking pool with a lot of great matchups for fans in Singapore to look forward to.
Cooper Watters could make his debut for Australia, and Head Coach Liam Barry commented, “Cooper Watters is a hard-working young man who has come through the under-20s system and could make his debut this weekend, which is a fantastic opportunity for him to travel with the group.
All of the fixtures and schedule will be added here.

Ruck and Rumble Finals – Singapore SVNS 2026
The youth section Ruck and Rumble Finals will once again be featured on day 1 of the Singapore SVNS at the National Stadium.
Calven ‘Beige’ Bland, who organises the Ruck and Rumble, told us in 2025, “The intent is to play your games and then have your finals at the Sevens during the Singapore SVNS, and it’s growing every year. It’s getting bigger and busier and more fun and a little bit more technically challenging, trying to cater to more teams. None of this would ever occur without fantastic volunteers. And those volunteers get right behind the whole concept of running a local tournament for kids to have fun.
It could be the first and only time that these kids get to play on that main field at the National Stadium, so we make that point every year, and tell the kids to enjoy the environment and take in the atmosphere. Their friends and family are in the stands, so we tell them to wave to their parents, touch the ground and feel how soft it is. It’s just a joyous rugby occasion for these young kids, and long may it continue.”

Singapore U14 School Finals
The domestic U14 School finals will be played, as they have in previous years, at the National Stadium on the second day of the Singapore SVNS, Sunday, February 1st 2026.
