Mie Pearls Win Taiyo Seimei Women’s Sevens Series 2025 Tournament One In Kumagaya

The Mie Pearls team won the opening round of the Taiyo Seimei Women’s Sevens Series opening round in Kumagaya – the team is stacked with international and local talent, so they would now be favourites for the title, but they were pushed hard by the Tokyo Sankyu Phoenix in the final.
The tournament MVP was from the Mie Pearls, Brazilian Thalia Costa, who scored with her first touch of the ball in Kumagaya and went on to score 9 tries in total (second overall). The leading try scorer was Reapi Ulunisau from Nanairo Prism Fukuoka, while the top points scorer was French 7s and TKM Yokohama player Yolaine Yengo (47 points including 5 tries).
Throughout the weekend, there were exhibition matches with the Samurai Sevens playing the Japan Men’s Sevens Development Squad (SDS), and the SDS won both very competitive games.
