Rugby For Good Partners With Cathay as a 2026 Community Partner
On February 7, 2026, Cathay announced its new community initiatives and partnerships with Rugby For Good and HandsOn Hong Kong and aims to “uplift 80,000 lives in 2026 through an expanded range of community programmes built around youth development, sports, and arts and culture”.
The announcement was held at an event attended by Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau, with Director of Social Welfare of the Hong Kong SAR Government Edward To as the Guest of Honour.
Cathay’s Lavinia Lau said: “For 80 years, Cathay has been on a shared journey with our home city, Hong Kong, navigating challenges, embracing change and growing together. As we mark this milestone, we remain committed to being a force of positivity for the community.

Our new partnerships with Rugby For Hong Kong and HandsOn Hong Kong reflect our dedication to empowering people and creating meaningful, lasting impact. Together with our partners, we look forward to uplifting 80,000 lives this year as we continue to move people forward in life.”
Rugby For Good said online, “We’re proud to be announced as one of Cathay’s 2026 community partners, supporting their goal to uplift 80,000 lives through youth development, sport and social initiatives. Through the Cathay GET, SET, MOVE Programme, Rugby For Good will engage primary and secondary students in rugby-based activities that promote mental and physical wellbeing, using rugby to build confidence, resilience, teamwork and a sense of belonging.”
Rugby For Good – Impact in Hong Kong
In 2025, Rugby For Good said they engaged over 31,000 beneficiaries through 54 events and 12 long-term programmes, using sport to deliver measurable social impact across Hong Kong.

- 83% built new friendships and a stronger sense of belonging through our programmes
- 80% developed healthy habits and a more positive mindset
- 75% learned to work as a team and navigate disagreements effectively
