New Zealand beat Australia in their own backyard and defeated them for a third time this season, with Player of the Final Kelsey Teneti having an outstanding tournament. It was their first win in Perth, and they now have a four-point lead in the HSBC SVNS Series league
Teneti said, “It’s more than just a game. We carry our wahine and our country on our shoulders, so to go back-to-back really means a lot. We know Australia are an amazing team. It can go either way, but we just tried to get the basics right. We’re literally just sisters!”

France beat the USA in a hard-fought bronze final as all the teams head to Vancouver and outside of New York next on the Series.
South Africa’s player-of-the-final was Ryan Oosthuizen, who was involved in nearly every score. “[I’m] very happy with our performance. Fiji is always a battle, and today definitely delivered. I’m super-proud of my team. We fought for one another, and that’s the Blitzbok standard we set for each other.”
The Blitzboks have led twice in two weekends against Fiji before losing and were in danger of making it three in a row, but came back in the end to claim the win.

Coach Philip Snyman praised the Springbok Sevens squad, saying, “It was massive for us to finish the tour like this. We brought a couple of youngsters with us on tour, made a semi-final in Singapore and won in Perth, so the results were great and on top of that, we have given more players the experience and exposure on the circuit. So overall, I am very happy and proud.”
Both Luan Giliomee and Renaldo Young earned their first Blitzbok caps in Singapore and Perth, respectively.
Of the final, the South African 7s Coach said, “We kept our composure and kept the pressure up. They did come back after we scored two early tries, but the players stuck to their guns, and the bench also made the necessary impact to keep them out for three minutes. That was a special performance, and everyone can be very proud of that effort.”
Australia beat rivals NZ to claim third in a testy 12-10 Bronze match win.

The Japanese won two matches and finished 6th overall, which was an improvement on Singapore, but 2026 has been tough for the team compared to the highs they hit in the opening rounds of the HSBC SVNS Series.
Japan Try Scorers: Chiaki Saegusa (x4), Natsuki Ouchida (x2), Michiyo Suda (x2), Marin Kajiki, Mei Ohtani, Mayu Yoshino, Hanako Utsumi, Ria Anoku, Minako Taniyama, Yume Hirano
Yuka Kanematsu, Head Coach of the team, said: “Despite the scorching heat, our players fought with a strong spirit until the very end. Through the Singapore tournament, we realised that in order to embody Sakura Sevens rugby in the top eight in the world, the foundation is connecting with something intangible.
Since arriving in Perth, we have spent time thinking about the team and each other, and I believe that the bold step that came from that led to our sixth-place result. Even after returning to Japan, we will cherish these efforts and continue to grow, one step at a time, as players and staff, so that we can once again reach the top four.”
