Hong Kong China Players Part of LIT UK Sevens Squad At Paradise 7s 2025

Gracie Hood and Pui Yee Lee from Hong Kong are in the LIT UK Sevens squad taking part in the Paradise 7s in Fiji this weekend, which includes top-tier competition from New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji.

The initiative aims to primarily support Great Britain’s (GB) women’s rugby sevens players who are without contracts and without a clear pathway to consistent international competition following the axing of the full-time programme.

It is supported by London International 7s (LIT7s), which has sent teams and players to competitions in Asia over the years.

They said, “This tour is the first of its kind – offering some of the best rugby 7s players in the United Kingdom to compete at an international level against NZ, Australia and Fiji following the de-funding of the GB7s programme this past July.”

HKCR Players – LIT UK Sevens 2025

Pui Yee Lee is with the squad as a travelling reserve and currently plays at Gai Wu RFC. She was part of the Hong Kong China U20 team, which played in the Asia Rugby 7s tournament in August and won silver.

Gracie Hood is an HKFC player and has 3 tournament caps for the HKCR senior women’s 7s side and was part of the XV team which played the Asia Rugby Championship in 2025. She was selected after her performances in the Summer’s LIT Super Sevens Series in the UK.

Gracie told Rugby Asia 247: ‘Being chosen to represent Team UK in the Paradise LIT Rugby Sevens tournament in Fiji is an incredible honour and exciting opportunity.

Competing in the stunning backdrop of beautiful Fiji, where rugby is a big part of the culture, makes the experience even more special. Playing against elite teams like Australia and New Zealand is not only a chance to showcase my skills, but to further develop as a player throughout this tournament.”

The LIT UK 7s squad includes former GB7s players and as well as invited players who stood out in the LIT Super Sevens Series. Some of the GB players initially selected for the tour were:

• Eloise Hayward, GB7s
• Charlotte Woodman, GB7s
• Georgie Lingham, GB7s*
• Seren Singleton, GB7s Camp & Wales 7s
• Courtney Greenway, Wales 7s
• Emma Hennessy, Wales 7s

*Abbie Brown and Georgie couldn’t make it, but Hannah Thornhill has made the tour to Fiji. Staff who have helped the team prepare for the tour include former GB7s coaches such as Will Broderick (former GB7s Assistant Coach), Matt Stagg (former GB7s Strength & Conditioning Coach), and Simon Hunt (England 7s).

Organisers are currently seeking donations from supporters as well as sponsorship from businesses and partners to help cover essential costs. These include flights, accommodation, tournament fees, kit, and support staff.
