The win was the 5th title for Nagato Blue Angels, and they are the most successful team in the history of the series. They have been crowned Champions in 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The Yokohama TKM side clinched third overall, beating Nanairo Prism Fukuoka 28-21.
In the relegation/promotion matches, Yokogawa Musashino Artemi-Stars, Arukas Queen Kumagaya women’s RFC and and Otemon Gakuin University Women’s Rugby Club Venus earned the right to participate in the 2026 series following their rounds of matches.
For the Nagato Blue Angles, their head coach, former All Black 7s player Lote Raikabula, left his role in the buildup to the final tournament to head back to the Thailand Women’s 7s Head Coach role.
Akane Kagawa, JRFU Director of Women’s Rugby said, “The 2025 Taiyo Seimei Women’s Seven Series was the most exciting series to date. The inclusion of the Grand Final Tournament and Grand Final match has really added to the spectacle and excitement.
The series began in 2014 as a national competition to give our best players from across the country the chance to compete against each other. It has grown to become not only fundamental for our growth in Sevens, but it also helps us identify talent that can cross over to our elite Fifteens programmes.”
