Sam Hocking Appointed as Head of Valley RFC Women’s Rugby

Sam Hocking has been appointed as Head of Valley RFC Women’s Rugby and will be the HKCR Women’s Club Coaching Officer, taking over the reins from Bella Milo, who has led the Women for several years.

Valley RFC said, “Sam brings a wealth of high-performance coaching experience and a deep-rooted understanding of Valley’s values and, equally importantly, how rugby in Hong Kong ticks. He is the perfect choice to lead the next chapter of growth and success for our Women’s section. Sam is the perfect person to elevate our Women’s programs to new heights; the pen to write our next chapter is in good hands!

Hocking has been part of the Valley RFC for the past five years as coach for the Men’s Premiership team, and has worked in a number of Hong Kong rugby programs for ten years. He is a former coach with the Hong Kong China Senior Women’s National team, and part of the coaching teams involved with both the Men’s National team and South China Tigers full-time program.

He is on tour with HKCR Dragons Men’s XV who play in Singapore on June 20th.

The club added, “he has proven experience identifying, developing and working with Hong Kong-based talent as well as understanding the support systems needed for players new to Hong Kong.”

Sam Hocking will support the coach development of coaches involved in the Hong Kong China Dragons program and the development of Valley RFC coaches throughout their programs, and deepen his knowledge of the future Hong Kong playing pool.
