CMC Markets and Singapore Cricket Club Enter Multi-Year Partnership To Bolster Rugby’s Development
CMC Markets has entered a dual partnership with the Singapore Cricket Club (SCC), supporting the Club’s Rugby Academy and all Senior Rugby squads. The multi-year agreement is designed to sponsor the development of SCC’s programs, enabling players, families, and the community to benefit from enhanced training, facilities, and engagement opportunities that will help grow rugby in Singapore.
CMC Markets is a leading online multi-asset trading platform and fintech leader, and a press release from the company said that this partnership “reinforces CMC Markets’ support for local sport in Singapore.” They already sponsor Singapore’s Number 1 Padel player, Enzo Chua, and Singapore’s Number 1 professional golfer, James Leow. Their sister brand, CMC Invest, is also represented by brand ambassador and international athletics medallist Shanti Pereira,
CMC Markets has recently also partnered with the Singapore Football Club (SFC) to advance local football and expand financial literacy across the sports community.
Christopher Forbes, Head of Asia & Middle East at CMC Markets, said: “From grassroots to the Senior squads, rugby is about teamwork, preparation and fun. You can’t fake a tackle or half-commit to a scrum. That same philosophy defines our platform: we’re all in for our team, and our team means our staff and our customers, in a transparent and disciplined manner.
We ensure everyone has the same opportunities, from experienced traders to beginners alike. This isn’t a logo exercise. We’re embedded at every level of SCC rugby, from supporting an eight-year-old at Academy training to backing the Prems on match day. We value partnership with a community that shares our values, and our deal is multi-season to show this is a long-term commitment to show up season after season.”

What Does The CMC Markets Partnership Mean for SCC Rugby?
Mandeep Tahim, Rugby Convenor for the Singapore Cricket Club, said: “We are extremely proud to partner with CMC Markets – with the Academy partnership having already started from January 2026, and the partnership with the senior sides to commence from July 2026, the end of the current season.
A partnership spanning our entire rugby programme demonstrates CMC Markets’ commitment to growing rugby and sport at every level in the community.
Partnering with CMC Markets in the field is one thing, but their vision for what can be achieved off the field through the power of sport is truly game-changing for the younger generation – sponsoring local talent, providing financial literacy training and driving community-focused events. We look forward to working with the team at CMC Markets to continue to develop rugby and sport in the community.”

Some of the key highlights of the partnership between CMC Markets and SCC include:
- The SCC Academy’s inaugural kit swap will take place in April 2026, providing young players with upgraded kits and equipment as they enter the new season.
- The senior team will commence in July 2026 and spans every SCC Rugby squad: the Prems, Tankards, Lions, Growlers, Stingers, and Men’s Touch, with the premier team fielding as the “CMC Markets SCC Prems” across the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 seasons
- Beyond match day, CMC Markets will be present at community events, including Captain’s Cocktails, Ladies’ Day, and the End-of-Season Dinner, with the centrepiece being the “SCC Rugby Family Day, presented by CMC,” which will bring players, families, and the wider community together alongside introductory financial literacy sessions.
The SCC Rugby Academy is a junior Rugby and Touch Rugby club and not-for-profit organisation attached to Singapore Cricket Club (SCC), founded in 2012 by a group of rugby players from the SCC Rugby Section. It includes boys and girls aged 3 to 18 who benefit from talented coaches who still play regularly and ensure progression runs smoothly into “Colt” and adult rugby.
The Academy also actively supports the Wheelchair Rugby Association Singapore (WRAS) through fundraising initiatives and by raising public awareness of the sport and its community.
The SCC Rugby Section consists of five men’s teams: Under 19s, SCC Growlers (Vets), SCC Lions (3rd XV), SCC Tankards (2nd XV), and the SCC Prems (1st XV).
The Section also has the SCC Stingers, a newly formed touch team made up mainly of female SCC Academy graduates. The SCC Prems are the current reigning SRU Premiership Champions (2024 & 2025). There are ambitions to introduce a women’s contact team and a wheelchair rugby team in support of Wheelchair Rugby Singapore.

The club also hosts the SCC International 7s in Oct/Nov each year, while the SCC Nomads host touring teams from all over the world and embark on tours throughout the year (recent tours have included Laos, Spain, Hong Kong and the Philippines, to name a few).
